To access the Registration Details click here.
The Bridging Education Program for Pharmacy Technicians has been fully implemented. All four courses are now available for classroom delivery and on-line. Prior Learning Assessment is also available for all eligible courses (Professional Practice may not be completed by Prior Learning Assessment).
Note: Not all courses will be available at all sites in every semester; availability of qualified instructors and/or limited course registrations may impact course offerings. If you have questions or concerns about course availability in you community please send an email to pharmtech@ocpinfo.com. The Bridging Program will continue to be offered through until the end of 2014.
Who – The proposed Registration Regulation states that all pharmacy technicians who are currently in the profession (i.e. graduates of programs prior to, or without CCAPP accreditation, or on-the-job trained) and who wish to pursue OCP registration, must complete the approved Bridging Education Program.
Note: eligibility requires completion of the OCP certification exam OR PEBC evaluating exam first. Click here for more details.
What – The Bridging Program consists of four courses (followed by an onsite practice evaluation of the “independent double check” for product release called Structured Practical Evaluation). The program is designed to provide pharmacy technicians with the knowledge and skills needed to meet the expectations of the expanded role that regulation will allow. Click here for a brief description of the courses.
When – Introduction of the courses began in fall 2008 and new courses and delivery formats have been added over the last two years. The program is now fully implemented and is available for classroom or on-line delivery during the Fall, Winter and Spring/Summer school semesters at participating Community Colleges.
Where – The courses are being offered by the Continuing Education Department of community colleges with a CCAPP accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program. These include Centennial, Fanshawe, Humber, Lambton, Mohawk, Niagara, Sheridan, St. Clair. These Colleges also offer satellite courses in other communities throughout the province, in affiliation with other Community Colleges or organizations. Click here for more details.
